1.9.2024 – Cancellation of remote metering of electricity, water and heat consumption

Dear students,

As of 1 September 2024, the price list of dormitory fees at Jarov II will be adjusted. The reason for this is that the SÚZ VŠE will abolish remote utility metering (electricity, water, and heat consumption), i.e., no more back billing of services to accommodated students.

This system was installed in 2015 to achieve savings on the consumption of the utilities mentioned above for the accommodated students and for the SUS VŠE. After evaluating the system’s operation, maintenance costs, and the projected savings on utilities, we concluded that the system was not worthwhile for either party. The average daily consumption for last year per accommodated student was 20 CZK, which is the amount by which the dormitory fee will increase. The advantage for the accommodated students is that they no longer have to worry about how much the system will charge them for electricity, water, and heat consumption at the end of the calendar month. Therefore, The dormitory fee will now include all services, which we believe will be more straightforward, transparent, and advantageous for students in accommodation.

According to the General Accommodation Conditions, this change will be effective 30 days after publication, i.e., from 12 August 2024, which means that by this date, it is possible to change the preferred and alternative dormitory in the application or cancel the application without the risk of losing the reservation deposit.
